Gareth Eddy
Owner / Managing Director
Not long after leaving school, Gareth joined the electrical industry and worked in electrical wholesale roles - mainly in sales and purchasing - for more than 30 years.
This ice cream gig is certainly a new venture with lots of learning, but he's enjoying it and especially loves meeting all the beloved Charlie fans, like him.
Sarah Eddy
Owner / Behind the Screens
Sarah has worked full-time at a large global company in its Christchurch corporate office since 2006, and has a background in office management, marketing & digital marketing, recruitment, executive assistance, communications, events, and sponsorship.
Sarah's the one behind the socials, marketing, accounts, and admin.
Lisa C
Manager
Lisa has worked at Ice Cream Charlie for more than five years, working for the previous owners - the McIsaacs.
Lisa has continued working under the new ownership in a manager's role and mainly works at the Charlie van at Victoria Square.
She loves getting to know the regulars and is super speedy at dishing out the Charlie treats!
Clive
Master Ice Cream Maker Extraordinaire
Clive is new to the world of ice-cream making, but you would never guess it. He's taken to it like a duck to water and is right at home behind the scenes in the factory, quietly playing his part in delivering the Ice Cream Charlie experience so many people love.
Outside of work, Clive is a sports fan, a devoted cat owner, and recently engaged. He is clearly a man who commits properly, whether to ice cream or life!
Sonya
Customer Services Supervisor
Sonya is the friendly face you'll encounter at our Kaiapoi location on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.
Sonya is married and a mum of two teenage boys and a gorgeous Maltese, Rosie. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, loves dancing, and is a sensational cook!
Tyree
Customer Services Supervisor
Tyree is the friendly face you'll find at our Kaiapoi store from Thursday to Sunday.
Tyree has extensive experience across hospitality and retail, and outside of work is a devoted dog mum to her much-loved senior pup. She also swaps ice cream for dirt tending to an impressive vegetable garden and growing much of her own food.
Lisa P
Customer Services Supervisor
We like to have a Lisa at the helm of our Victoria Square van every day, so you’ll find Lisa P leading the charge on Mondays and Tuesdays, as well as one weekend each month.
Lisa’s background is in the health and education sectors. She has a love of languages and speaks fluent Te Reo Māori. With her warm, friendly personality, she’s perfectly suited for a chat while scooping.
Ruby
Customer Services Assistant
Ruby is a student and helps out as part of the Ice Cream Charlie crew on weekends, after school, and in holidays.
He enjoys airsoft and is currently saving to go to University. You'll likely see Ruby more often in the Kaiapoi shop.
Izzie
Customer Services Assistant
Izzie has a background working with food and has acquired many hospitality certificates.
She enjoys spending quality time with her family and husky, and has medical aspirations for the future. Izzie will spend most of her Ice Cream Charlie time at Kaiapoi.
Lauren
Customer Services Assistant
Lauren graduated from Burnside High School in 2020 and worked at Build-a-Bear before having a baby girl in May 2024.
She loves giving back to the community and volunteers at the Kaiapoi Salvation Army while focusing on her retail qualifications. Lauren works at the Kaiapoi store.
Pippa
Customer Services Assistant
Pippa is a high school student who loves a sweet treat and getting to know other peoples' Ice Cream Charlie stories. Ice Cream Charlie was one of the first foods Pippa ever tried and has been a long tradition and love for Pippa and her family.
Pippa works mostly at our Victoria Square van and made an impact early on with her outstanding customer service.
Kieran
Customer Services Assistant and Back-up Ice Cream Artisan
Kieran looks after our Victoria Square van during our summer late nights and is the trusted back-up we call on when it’s time to make more of Charlie’s legendary ice cream when Clive needs a break.
With a background in IT, Kieran brings an eye for detail and a calm, steady approach. Kieran plays guitar and enjoys a range of art and music pursuits. At home, he’s the chief cook which makes him a natural fit for keeping Charlie fans well fed and happy.
