Ice Cream Charlie has been serving Charlie-lovers since 1903 - and now we're looking for reliable, customer-focused team members to help keep the tradition alive.

​

We have various casual positions available:

  • At our Ice Cream Charlie van on Armagh Street, Victoria Square, Christchurch

  • At our newly opened Kaiapoi factory and store, 77 Hilton Street, Kaiapoi

  • At various events around Canterbury

​

You'll be the friendly face greeting loyal Charlie-lovers, city workers, students, families, and curious tourists keen to try New Zealand's oldest ice cream recipe!

​

What the role involves:

  • Serving ice creams and thickshakes to brand standards

  • Outstanding customer service and engagement, and answering enquiries

  • Cash handling and EFTPOS use

  • Maintaining a clean, hygienic, and food-safe workspace

  • Temperature and other checks for auditing purposes

  • Basic stocktaking to ensure supplies don't run low

  • Keeping the location you're working at running smoothly during your shift

What we're looking for:

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills

  • Reliability - turning up when you're rostered

  • Confidence working solo during quieter periods

  • Ability to stay calm and efficient when queues get long

  • Availability for rostered shifts which could be a mix of weekdays, evenings, weekends, and sometimes at short notice

  • Choose either the city centre or Kaiapoi location - or even better if you could get to both!

  • Food service experience is great, but not essential as full training will be provided
