Fixed Term - Evenings
Charlie van, Victoria Square, Christchurch CBD

Ice Cream Charlie has been serving Charlie-lovers since 1903 - and now we're looking for two reliable, customer-focused team members to help keep the tradition alive in the summer evenings at our iconic Victoria Square van while we extend our hours for summer.

These are fixed term roles through to the end of February and consist of three or four evenings per week from 4:30pm - 9:30pm, including weekdays and weekends.

​

You'll be the friendly face greeting loyal Charlie-lovers, city workers, students, families, and curious tourists keen to try New Zealand's oldest ice cream recipe!

​

Although this is a fixed-term contract, there may be the possibility of ongoing work at the end of the contract once we determine what our autumn and winter hours look like.

​

What the role involves:

  • Serving ice creams and thickshakes to brand standards

  • Outstanding customer service and engagement, and answering enquiries

  • Cash handling and EFTPOS use

  • Maintaining a clean, hygienic, and food-safe workspace

  • Temperature and other checks for auditing purposes

  • Basic stocktaking to ensure supplies don't run low

  • Keeping the van running smoothly during your shift

What we're looking for:

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills

  • Reliability - turning up when you're rostered

  • Confidence working solo during quieter periods

  • Ability to stay calm and efficient when queues get long

  • Food service experience is great, but not essential as full training will be provided
