Customer Services Assistant

Permanent Part-Time
Charlie van, Victoria Square, Christchurch CBD

Ice Cream Charlie has been serving Charlie-lovers since 1903 - and now we're looking for a reliable, customer-focused team member to help keep the tradition alive at our iconic Victoria Square van.

​

This is a permanent part-time role worked:

  • Mondays and Tuesdays, 10:30am - 6:30pm (core roster)

  • One full weekend per month

  • Additional shifts may be available from time to time, particularly over summer and during events

​

You'll be the friendly face greeting loyal Charlie-lovers, city workers, students, families, and curious tourists keen to try New Zealand's oldest ice cream recipe!

​

What the role involves:

  • Serving ice creams and thickshakes to brand standards

  • Outstanding customer service and engagement, and answering enquiries

  • Cash handling and EFTPOS use

  • Maintaining a clean, hygienic, and food-safe workspace

  • Temperature and other checks for auditing purposes

  • Basic stocktaking to ensure supplies don't run low

  • Keeping the van running smoothly during your shift

What we're looking for:

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills

  • Reliability - turning up when you're rostered

  • Confidence working solo during quieter periods

  • Ability to stay calm and efficient when queues get long

  • Availability for the rostered weekdays and monthly weekend shifts, with flexibility to work other days if hot, busy, or staff sickness or leave requires

  • Food service experience is great, but not essential as full training will be provided
